Johns Hopkins Medical Image Research Archive

The Johns Hopkins Medical Image Archive Center (JHMIAC) offers researchers throughout the enterprise a secure, redundant, archive solution for storing images and related files. All of a researcher’s image studies can be consolidated into one archive or Organizational unit (ORG) by migrating images that may currently be stored in disparate locations. Each ORG can intelligently store data, image or non-image, in any format. All information is secure and available only to researchers who have been granted access. The Principal Investigator determines who has access to the archive and sets the level of access each co-researcher is granted.

Research Archive features

  • Secure: Access to data and images is strictly controlled
  • Redundant: All data and images are replicated, stored in two data centers
  • High Availability: Server clusters guarantee continuous uptime
  • ORGs: Organizational structure allows creation of individual archives for each project
  • Storage of all data types: ORGs allow storage and retrieval of dicom and non-dicom image sets, as well as other file formats such as pdf, doc, xls, avi, bmp, etc.

JHMIAC services

  • Migration of data from Emageon or other storage systems into research ORG
  • Migration of ORG data (all or selected studies) to eFilm workstations for analysis
  • Study anonymization
  • Assistance with the addition of ORGs to eFilm workstations and Modalities

**the above services are billed at $65.00/hour ( technical time only)
**this does not include the purchase of e Film if needed
( $300 per year for academic license)

Pricing

  • No yearly recurring charges, only a one-time fee per study for 7 years of storage
  • ORG Setup fee: $1000
  • $5.00 per study for studies up to 100 MB plus $.02 per MB for any studies larger than 100 MB ($.02 fee only applies to portion > 100MB)

ORG creation

  • Radiology researchers: Enter an Altiris Help Desk ticket to request an ORG
  • Non-Radiology researchers: Call the Radiology Help Desk at 410-502-2667

Members of JHMIAC will contact the researcher to discuss the project after the request is placed.
